ABSTINENCE AND SOLEMN PRAYERTO BE OBSERVED IN THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF CANADAMajor Fast Days: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Days of Abstinence: 1 All the Fridays of the Year except Christmas Day and the Epiphany. 2 The Forty Days of Lent. Days of Solemn Prayer: 1 The Ember Days at the Four Seasons, being the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday after the Third Sunday in Advent, the First Sunday in Lent, the Day of Pentecost (Whitsunday), and Holy Cross Day (September 14). 2 The Rogation Days, being the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before Holy Thursday, or the Ascension of our Lord.
