This is the title of a collection of fourteen essays that has been commissioned and published by the Prayer Book Society in England on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.  The foreword is by the Prince of Wales, and the authors include such luminaries as P.D. James and Terry Waite.  Five of the fourteen essays are by Canadian authors, reflecting the warm ties between the English and Canadian Societies.  The book can be ordered from on-line sources such as Amazon.  Click here to view the front cover.

I am happy to share new details of the upcoming Atlantic Theological Conference 2012. 

Date: June 26th - 29th   Location: St.Peter's Cathedral, Charlottetown, PEI
Topic: *The New Atheism*

The 2012 Atlantic Theological Conference will take place this year from June 26th-29th at St. Peter's Cathedral in Charlottetown, PEI. The topic of this year's conference will be THE NEW ATHEISM. Papers will include such topics as "Original Sin as the Evil of Religion," "Religion and Science," "Nietzsche and the Existence of God," and "The Bible: foundational document for the New Atheism."

"Titanic" service on April 15th at St. George's Owen Sound PDF Print E-mail

St. George's Anglican Church - Owen Sound, Ontario, will be conducting a special service of rememberance and prayer for those who have experience tragedy on the seas.  Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic this special service will, as much as possible, replicate the Worship Service that was held on Sunday, April 14th, 1912.  Thus, the service will be Morning Prayer, using the Church of England Book of Common Prayer, 1662 edition.  Readings for this service will also from the BCP 1662 edition.  A few details are still to be worked out (i.e. Hymns).  Invitations will be sent out to shipping companies, Georgian College, and other persons involved in the continuing marine life and activities in the area.

On February 2, 2012, St. Thomas's Church in Toronto marked the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer with a service of Holy Communion, celebrated with carefully reconstructed period ceremonial and music.  A copy of the service booklet is available here.  If your parish is interested in organizing a similar service, you are welcome to contact the Revd.
