I bring to your attention that updates have been made to our Golden Jubilee page, with liturgical resources added for March 21st, the anniversary of the Martyrdom of Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, the Translator, Compiler, and Author of the Book of Common Prayer.

I bring to your attention that the Atlantic Theological Conference has made available an advance notice regarding this year's conference.

The topic of the 2012 Atlantic Theological Conference will be "The New Atheism."  The keynote speaker at this conference will be Peter Hitchens, award-winning British columnist and author of such books as "Rage against God," which details his journey from the militant atheism of the far political left to Christianity.  Peter Hitchens' brother, Christopher, was a key champion of the New Atheism movement.  The conference will take place at St. Peter's Cathedral in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, from Tuesday June 26 (evening) to Friday, June 29 (noon).

*Proposed topics of the papers to be presented include:
1. Overview of the new atheism  - Peter Hitchens
2. Atheism and Science  (especially Darwin)
3. Original Sin
4.  The Reading of Scripture (how we read and understand Scripture)
5.  The Existence of God

Further details about the speakers at this year's conference, as well as more specific topics of individual papers, will be posted on the conference website at http://www.stpeter.org/conf.htm as information becomes available.

Volume I of Sue Careless’ popular series on the Prayer Book (entitled “Daily Prayer”) is into its third print run. This brings the total number of copies of this volume in print up to 3,500 (5,000 copies counts as a best-seller in Canada)! The retail price is still only $19.98, and the book is available from the Anglican Book Centre or Crux Books in Toronto, or from St. Peter Publications in Charlottetown. Sponsored by the Ottawa branch of the Prayer Book Society of Canada, The Anglican Essay Competition for Young Canadians is taking place in celebration of the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and of the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Book of Common Prayer (Canada). To take place in 2012, the competition is
announced with the intention of raising the interest in and use of the Book of Common Prayer amongst Canadians aged 17 - 30. $4,750 will be available in prize money and the essays will be judged by  a prestigious panel of three eminent Canadian Anglican theologians.
