There are Prayer Book Societies active all over the Anglican world! In 1993 & 1994, The Prayer Book Society in Australia published a number of pamphlets containing homilies from the First Book of Homilies (1547). These include all the titles listed on the foregoing page, and the text has been copied from those pamphlets. According to the foreword printed in one such copy, the work of printing the'Fruitful Exhortation to the Reading and Knowledge of Holy Scripture' was undertaken due to the efforts of the Committee of the Society, and the skill of Mr. James Hutton, then (in May 1994) Honourary Secretary. This first pamphlet met with wide interest and popularity, and more were printed in 1994, with the intent of helping church people to move towards a clearer understanding of major aspects of the faith. Chairman Anthony Bailey writes: This is all part of our desire to provide high quality publications on matters relating in particular to the liturgy and doctrines set forth in the Book of Common Prayer and also to discuss in both a scholarly and practical fashion the principles of Anglicanism within the Christian scene.
